In 2024, CSONA joined communities and partners in commemorating the Global Day of Action (GDA) for nutrition at Traditional Authority Kabudula in Lilongwe. The event was presided over by the Minister of Tourism, Hon. Vera Kamtukule, and was filled with vibrant participation from community members, local leaders, and stakeholders.

The gathering highlighted the importance of collective action in addressing malnutrition and promoting healthier diets in Malawi. Community voices played a central role, reminding all present that solutions to nutrition challenges must be rooted in people’s everyday realities.

This year’s GDA was held under our ongoing project funded by Irish Aid and implemented in collaboration with Concern Worldwide and CICOD in Lilongwe and Mchinji districts. The project seeks to improve the nutritional status and dietary diversity of women and children in vulnerable communities by promoting resilient, sustainable, and inclusive food systems.

Through the day’s discussions, sharing of experiences, and community-led activities, the event reaffirmed the vital role that partnerships and local action play in building a healthier and more nourished Malawi.
