FOOD SYSTEMS FOR FOOD SECURITY

FUNDER: IRISH AID

The Food Systems for Food Security Malawi (FS4FS) project is a five-year initiative (2023–2027) that seeks to improve the nutritional status and dietary diversity of women and children in vulnerable communities by promoting resilient, sustainable, and inclusive food systems.

The project is being implemented in Lilongwe and Mchinji districts by Concern Worldwide, in partnership with CSONA (Civil Society Organisations Nutrition Alliance) and CICOD. It focuses on increasing the availability, accessibility, and affordability of diverse and nutritious foods, while also strengthening nutrition knowledge and practices at household and community levels.

In Lilongwe, the project is active in the three Traditional Authorities of Khongoni, Kalolo, and Kabudula, and is working closely with schools such as Kapunula, Msauka, and Kabudula Primary Schools. In Mchinji, CSONA is engaging with Mkumba, Msupadzi, and Khungwa Primary Schools to implement targeted school- and community-based interventions.

The FS4FS project supports the consumption of adequate and affordable diets through integrated programming.
